Grasso Scores in Field Hockey Loss to Wooster

RICHMOND, Ind. – The College of Wooster scored two goals in the season half to defeat the Earlham College field hockey team 3-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition at Darrell Beane Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Sophomore Isabella Grasso opened the scoring seven minutes into the contest. Fellow sophomore Maite Turlings fired a shot off of a penalty corner, which ricocheted off of a defender. Grasso then netted her fourth goal of the season putting the Quakers' up 1-0.

The Fighting Scots tied the game at the 13:30 mark when Rose Taylor scored her 14th goal of the year on a penalty shot.

Tied 1-1 at halftime. Leah Prescott scored both Wooster goals within two minutes of each other to claim the win for the Scots.

Wooster held a slight 15-12 edge in shots as well as earned seven penalty corners compared to six for the Quakers. Freshman goalkeeper Camille van der Vaart made seven saves in the loss.

Earlham has a quick turnaround as it hosts Oberlin College tomorrow (Saturday) at 11 a.m.
