Field Hockey Clipped at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio – Jen Durbin scored the game's only goal a dozen minutes into the second half propelling Denison University to a 1-0 win over the Earlham College field hockey team on Saturday afternoon.

The Big Red took 10 shots in the first half compared to four for the Quakers. In the second half, however, Denison outshot Earlham 11-0. Freshman goalkeeper Camille van der Vaart kept the game close making 10 saves in the loss.

Sophomore Maite Turlings led Earlham's attack in the first half, taking three shots including one on goal. She also aided the Quakers' defense, making a defensive save.

Charlotte Happel finished the game with seven shots including four on goal.

Earlham stands at 6-10 overall and 3-8 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition. The Quakers will face Kenyon College at noon tomorrow (Sunday).
