Field Hockey Drops NCAC Contest at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Earlham College field hockey team fell 5-0 to Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition on Saturday afternoon.

The Battling Bishops struck for two goals in the first dozen minutes. Leading 2-0 at halftime, Emily Black broke through the Quaker defense and scored her second goal of the game ten minutes into the second half. Ohio Wesleyan added two more goals in a three minute span to put the game out of reach.

Earlham took ten shots in the game compared to 22 for OWU. Senior Kaitlyn Brunner led the Quakers attack with six shots including two on goal. The Battling Bishops earned nine penalty corners while Earlham took four.

Freshman goalkeeper Camille van ver Vaart took the loss, allowing five goals and making four saves in just under 57 minutes of play. Fellow freshman Kudzai Musongahande finished the final 13 minutes and made one save.

The Quakers return to action against the College of Wooster at home on Friday.
