Men's Tennis Wins Second Straight HCAC Contest on the Road

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Earlham College men's tennis team improved to 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play with a 7-2 win at Franklin College on Saturday afternoon.

The Quakers took a 2-1 lead after doubles. Sophomore Adam Schwartz and freshman Adarsh Singh defeated Kyle Sauley and Dan Hicks 8-2 at second doubles. Sophomore Vojislav Tatarevic and freshman Nicola Manni won their ninth doubles match of the season, defeating Dean Elrod and Nathan Beasley 8-1 at third doubles.

Senior Jack Ventura-Cruess and sophomore Vitalii Stadnyk lost only their fourth doubles match of the season, falling 8-6 at first doubles.

Stadnyk and Ventura-Cruess made up for the doubles loss with a pair of singles victories. Stadnyk defeated Alex Hammer 6-3, 6-2 at first singles while Ventura-Cruess swept Beasley 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles.

Manni and Tatarevic won their third and fifth singles matches respectively in straight sets. Tatarevic now leads the team with 13 singles victories. Singh edged Ethan Caldwell 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) at second singles.

The Grizzlies lone singles flight win came at fourth singles as Elrod defeated Schwartz in straight sets.

Earlham improves to an even 8-8 with the win. The Quakers will face Transylvania University at 10 a.m. at home tomorrow.
