After a scoreless inning from both teams in the fourth inning, Earlham plated two runs in the fifth on a bases loaded walk drawn by Spurgon and a sacrifice fly hit by junior Cody Krumlauf.

Both teams scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings making the score 4-2, but sophomore Matt Mathies closed the door on his second save of the season, allowing just one hit in the final two innings.
