GREENCASTLE, Indiana – The Earlham College field hockey team fell to DePauw University 3-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action on Sunday afternoon.

DePauw's Paige Berliner, who took nearly half of the Tigers' shots, deflected in a shot from Rose Revolinksi for the game's first goal at the 15:38 mark. The hosts would take the one-goal lead into the halftime break.

Sophomore Camille van der Vaart saved DePauw's first two shots at goal in the second half, but the Tigers persistent pressure paid off in the 50th minute as Berliner found the back of the net once again.

Earlham head coach Emily Girasole called timeout after Berliner's second goal, and the Quakers mounted an offensive surge in the minutes that followed. Two penalty corners and three shots could not crack the DePauw defense, however, and Reilly Bruce's goal in the 57th minute put the game out of reach.

DePauw finished the game with 24 shots compared to 10 for Earlham. The Tigers also doubled the Quakers in penalty corners 16-8.

Senior Megan Hut and junior Maite Turlings both took for shots to lead Earlham's offensive attack. Two of Hut's shots were on net while sophomore Sydney Barnes took the other shot on net.

van der Vaart took the loss for Earlham despite making e11 saves in the game.

Earlham (3-6, 2-5 NCAC) begins the second round of conference play at Wittenberg University on Saturday, Sept. 7.
