GREENCASTLE, Indiana - Senior Megan Hut broke a 3-3 tie with her second goal of the game in the 63rd minute lifting the Earlham College field hockey team to a 4-3 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday.

The Falcons opened the scored just over a minute into the contest as Sam Dunn took a pass from Kelsey Fulton and fired a shot past Earlham goalkeeper, sophomore Camille van der Vaart. Concordia Wisconsin held the goal advantage for over 20 minutes until sophomore Kudzai Mushongahande scored her first collegiate goal unassisted. The two teams would enter halftime tied 1-1 despite the Quakers holding a 10-5 shots advantage.

Hut broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half as she scored her fourth goal of the season. Freshman Sofia Savatore gave Earlham a 3-1 lead when she pounced on a loose ball in the strike circle with just under 14 minutes to play.

Leading 3-1, the Quakers could not hold the lead as the Falcons struck for two goals in a 20-second span to tie the game 3-3 with seven minutes to play in regulation.

Eighteen seconds after Concordia Wisconsin tied the game, Hut scored what proved to be the game-winner unassisted.

The Quakers held a 5-4 shots advantage in the second half. Of the nine shots both goalkeepers faced in the final 35 minutes, five of them found the back of the net. Earlham also earned eight penalty corners compared to six for Concordia Wisconsin.

Hut and junior Maite Turlings combined to take nine of the Quakers' 15 team shots. Sam Dunn led the Falcons with four shots including two on goal.

Earlham improves to 3-5 on the season with the victory. The Quakers return to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action tomorrow (Sunday) at DePauw University.
