Box Score

RICHMOND, Ind. – Hannah Grushon's goal with 2:22 remaining in the first quarter was the lone score of the game and lifted Earlham College field hockey to a 1-0 win over visiting Wittenberg University, in a non-conference match on Friday night at Darrell Beane Stadium.

Grushon's unassisted goal came on a solo rush up the sideline, and beating Witt goalie Emma Hurguy in the one-on-one challenge with a shot from five yards out. Grushon obtained possession by intercepting a cross-field pass by two Wittenberg defenders.

Wittenberg outshot Earlham, 7-3, in the contest and the Tigers were awarded eight penalty corners to the Quakers' three. Earlham goalie Meg Murphy registered four saves in the win to advanced her record to 4-2, while Witt's Hurguy was credited with one save.

Earlham improved to 4-2 overall with the victory. The Quakers will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they face Ohio Wesleyan in an 11:00 a.m. contest.
