Field hockey suffers setback against DePauw

Box Score

RICHMOND, Ind. – Alexa Steil's goal with 7:43 remaining in the second quarter gave visiting DePauw University a lead that held up the rest of the game, as Earlham College field hockey was unable to top the visiting Tigers in a 1-0 loss on Tuesday night at Darrell Beane Stadium.

Steil rammed home a loose ball from four yards out in front of the Earlham goal, off a centering pass from Christina Bourantas, to give DePauw the lead.

Earlham generated most of its offensive opportunities in the fourth quarter when it sent four shots toward the DePauw goal, two of which were on target and resulted in saves for Tiger goalie Allie Duranceau. Earlham goalie Meg Murphy was not credited with a save during the contest.

Earlham field hockey returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when it faces Oberlin College. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
