MEET: DePauw Indoor Invitational

MEN'S FINISH: 9th out of 15 teams (31 pts.)
THE SHORT STORY: Earlham College junior Hailey Beel recorded the Quakers' lone first-place finish of the day and helped account for 12 points, to lead Earlham women's track & field to a ninth-place finish out of 15 teams at the DePauw Indoor Invitational, held Saturday at the Hollensteiner Track in Greencastle, Indiana.
Saturday's meet was the final tune-up for the Quakers before this Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
ON THE TRACK
- Junior Hailey Beel won the 200m dash with a time of 27.35, earning 10 points for the Quakers. The time was a personal best for Beel, and matched the 34th-best time in the Great Lakes Region heading into the day.
- Sophomore Natalie McIntyre was sixth in the 60m dash with a PR time of 8.41 seconds.
- Junior Jasmine Lorenzana finished seventh in the 800m run with a time of 2:29.47, earning two points for the Earlham women.
- Earlham's 4x400m team of Mairead Blatner, Miette Hennessy, Shianna Bellingham, and Hailey Beel earned two points after posting a time of 4:39.44.
IN THE FIELD EVENTS
- First-year Madison Huelskamp, the reigning Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, placed second in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 16-10 (5.13m). That mark should place Huelskamp among the top 20 in the Great Lakes Region following Saturday's update to the regional performance rankings. Huelskamp also picked up one point in the triple jump after finishing eighth with a mark of 30-8 1/4 (9.35m).
- Senior Esther Mano was seventh in the triple jump with an effort of 31-0 1/2 (9.46m).
UP NEXT: Earlham women's track and field competes in the HCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 22, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will host the conference championship meet.
