Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. - An excited Earlham field hockey team celebrated in the final moments of a 1-0 victory over Concordia University in Darrell Beane Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 5. The win helped the Quakers reach a 3-0 season start, a start that hasn't been matched since 1987.
Earlham executed a penalty corner to perfection as the Quakers scored at the 58:42 mark to post their third straight win to begin the season.
Molly McKellar's pass on play went directly to
Denise Bergdolt, who blasted a shot from about 15 yards that zipped past Concordia goalkeeper Emily Binley.
With her second goal of the season, Bergdolt tops the Quakers in points with six as she also has two assists. The assist for McKellar was her first of the year.
The Quakers had a 13-9 advantage in shots, while also holding 9-5 edge in corners.
Earlham goalkeeper
Meg Murphy had a pair of saves for the Quakers to post a second consecutive shutout over the Falcons (0-2). Earlham won 3-0 over Concordia on Saturday.
Next up for the Quakers (3-0) is a trip to SUNY Brockport on Friday, Sept. 10. The non-conference match in New York starts at 4 p.m.
