RICHMOND – The Earlham College baseball team has qualified for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in Kokomo, Ind. taking place over the weekend. The Quakers earned the No. 2 seed after finishing in a tie for second in the final standings with Rose-Hulman.
THE FORMAT
The tournament is set up in a double-elimination bracket. Earlham will face off with No. 3 Rose-Hulman on Thursday at 3:30 pm in the first round of play. A Quaker win would put them through to the next round where they would play the winner of No. 1 Franklin and No. 4 Anderson/No. 5 Hanover on Friday. A loss would send Earlham to the losers bracket where they would play the loser of the Anderson and Hanover game.
THE PLAYERS
Andrew Bradley leads the Quaker bats with a .391 average. The senior has 43 hits and a program record 16 home runs with 47 RBI.
Christian Lancianese leads off the Quaker batting order with 41 hits, eight doubles, two triples and six homers.
Nathan Lancianese boasts a .353 average with 48 hits and 15 doubles, both team highs.
Aidan Talarek leads Quaker pitchers with 66 innings pitched. He has struck out a team-high 55 batters and leads the conference with seven winning decisions. Talarek has thrown two complete games and has an ERA of 3.41.
Justin Dillhoff ranks second in innings pitched with 54. The junior has gone the distance twice and recorded 51 strikeouts.
Dillon Fischer rounds out the starting rotation with 33 strikeouts and a 4-1 record in eight starts.
