RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team earned the first win of 
Joe Adams' tenure as Head Coach with an 80-34 win over Miami Middletown on Friday evening to kick off the Melissa Johnson/Hope Classic.
Alexis Gibson led the squad with a career-high 24 points while hauling in 11 rebounds. In her first career game, 
Amari Wright scored 14 points, going 2-for-3 from 3-point range. 
Jay Bright reached double-digits with 11 points. 
The Quakers went 13-of-15 from the free throw line, and scored 31 points off of turnovers. 
Earlham scored a 13-0 run in the first quarter to begin the offensive day, and the Quaker defense allowed just four points in the second quarter. 
After leading 37-14 at halftime, Earlham began the third quarter with a 20-1 run.The Quakers outscored the Thunderhawks 29-8 in the frame. The Quakers used the fourth quarter to garner valuable playing time among the roster. All 11 active players saw action at some point. 
The Melissa Johnson/Hope Classic continues tomorrow with the men's team hosting Capital University at 12 pm. The Earlham women will be back in action on Sunday at 2 pm against Albion.
