RICHMOND – The Earlham College track and field team preps for the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
In total, the Quakers have 10 athletes qualified for the meet, in 13 different events.
Action is scheduled to begin in Franklin at 3 pm on Friday.
Conner Kimball enters the championship meet with the fastest seed time in the men's 800 meter run, after recording a 1:54.44 at the Indiana DIII Meet two weeks ago.
Liv Kyrk has the second-best seed in the women's 400 meter dash with her qualifying time of 1:02.34 from the Indiana DIII Meet.
Connor Del Carmen has qualified in two events. He has the No.2 seed in the 10,000 meter run with his school record time of 31:27.18 from the Wash U Distance Carnival. Del Carmen is also the third seed in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:11.02 which came from the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational over spring break.
Madison Huelskamp will be competing in both of her jumping events. The junior is seeded second in the long jump with a mark of 5.25 meters (17'2.75"). She is third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.72 meters (35'2").
James Holder qualified in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.8 meters (5'10.75"). The freshman is fifth in the current standings.
Alexis Gibson has reached the championship meet in three events, qualifying in the javelin throw, discus, and shot put. The sophomore is ranked top-10 in all three events in the HCAC.
Josh Ozanne and
David Turner both qualified in the men's triple jump. Ozanne leads the way with an 11.85 meter (38'10.5") mark for ninth place, while Turner is in 11th place with an 11.52 meter (37'9.5") leap.
Ozanne is also qualified in the long jump, where he is joined by
Abraham Sadiq. Ozanne is once again ninth in the conference, while Sadiq is in 10th.
