Women's soccer rallies to draw at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Earlham College women's soccer team battled from down 3-1 to come back and reach a 3-3 draw at Muskingum University on Wednesday evening. 

The Quakers moved to 1-3-1 on the season.

The Muskies scored their opening goal in just the second minute of action. 

Alyssa Jennings responded for Earlham with an equalizer in the 28th minute, with help from an assist by Mallory Smith. Less than six minutes later, Muskingum scored again to take a 2-1 lead into halftime. 

The home squad added its final goal in the 55th minute of play. 

Trailing 3-1, the Quakers scored two goals in the final 12 minutes of the contest to salvage a tie. Natalie Becksfound the back of the net in the 79th minute with an assist from Noelle Hooper. Hooper then got a score to level the game in the 82nd minute, with help from Smith. 

Hooper accounted for nearly half of the Quaker shot attempts with four. 

Earlham was outshot 21-9, and the Quakers allowed 13 shots in the first half. 

Makayla Hurey collected nine saves in goal. 

Earlham will be back in action on Saturday at home against Adrian College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm in Matlack-Messer Stadium.
