Hurey collects 18 saves in shutout against MSJ

RICHMOND, Ind. – Facing 40 shots on the day, Earlham College senior Makayla Hurey held a 0-0 shutout against Mount St. Joseph University in HCAC action. 

Hurey brought in 18 saves for a new career high, and recorded the fourth shutout of her season. Hurey made multiple diving saves, including a final shot with just 11 seconds remaining in the contest. 

Earlham also had to play defense shorthanded after a red card in the 76th minute of play. 

Mallory Smith recorded one shot on goal, Diane Scalise tallied the only other shot for EC on the day. 

The Quakers continue action on Wednesday against Transylvania University in Matlack-Messer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
