TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Earlham College track and field team completed its final tune-up before the conference championship at the Friday Night Spikes meet hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
The women's team finished in second place overall with 66 points while the men's squad scored 36 points in fifth place.
The Quakers will take on the conference championship in two weeks at Rose-Hulman.
Here are some of the top performances of the day for the Quake:
Abigail Kirby won the women's high jump by clearing 1.55 meters for a new personal best. The freshman is currently tied for the best mark in the conference with Alison Muck of Franklin College. Kirby also won the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.35. Kirby led
Chloe Cook and
Akiko Tajima to top-seven finishes in the event. Kirby also scored a podium in the long jump, with a leap of 4.62 meters.
Ethan Rose won the men's 800 meter run with a new personal best of 1:59.33. Rose cleared second place by just over a second in the four-lap race.
Katelyn Trotto won the women's 800 after scoring a new PR with a time of 2:50.58.
Amari Bradford took second place in the women's 60 meter dash. The junior ran a time of 8.98 in the event. Bradford also scored with a fourth-place finish in the long jump, leaping 4.4 meters.
Abraham Sadiq placed second in the men's long jump after posting a mark of 6.29 meters.
Micah Williams scored a new PR in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 53.14. The freshman finished in third place. Williams also scored fifth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.67.
Jesse Musinguzi finished third in the high jump by clearing 1.67 meters.
Cook, Bradford, Tajima, and
Oghenemaro Imieye won the women's 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:58.75. The quartet sits in fifth place in the HCAC rankings.
