TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Earlham College track and field team competed for the final time before the HCAC Championship meet on Friday evening at the Twilight Invitational hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
The women's team scored 42.5 points to finish in seventh place in the meet, while the men's team scored eight points and finished in 13th place.
Lex Gibson won the javelin throw with a mark of 35.46 meters, nearly two meters farther than any other competitor on the day. Gibson also scored in the discus throw, taking fifth place with a mark of 33.52 meters.
Ethan Rose took second place in the men's 800 meter run, and posted the new best time in the HCAC, clocking in at 1:57.37 in the two-lap race.
Isa Slone placed third in the high jump, clearing 1.53 meters (5' 0.25") in the event.
Giulianna Russell also placed with a mark of 1.38 meters (4' 6.25").
Cleo Saltz continued her strong season with a sixth-place finish in the 1500 meter run. The freshman ran a time of 4:54.18 to place third in the HCAC rankings. Saltz was the second-highest HCAC finisher at the meet.
Prynces Robinson took second place in the triple jump after recording a 10.27. Robinson also scored in the women's long jump with a leap of 4.88 meters . Russell scored a sixth-place finish with a mark of 4.77 meters.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of
Alex Ball, Russell, Slone and Robinson placed fifth with a time of 52.79.
The Quakers take on the HCAC Championship meet next weekend at Berea College.
