GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Earlham College track and field team took on elite competition at the Indiana DIII Invitational on Saturday.
The men's team finished in eighth place with eight points, while the women's team finished in fifth place with 49 points.
Alexis Gibson won the women's javelin, and set a new meet record with a heave of 36.94 meters on her second throw of the day. Gibson also scored in the discus throw with a mark of 32.92 meters.
Prynces Robinson finished the triple jump in second place, leaping 10.71 meters on her final jump of the day to take the podium finish.
Isa Slone finished second in the 400 meter dash with a new PR of 1:02.77.
Lily Schamel also placed with a sixth-place finish in the 400. Slone also scored in the long jump, finishing in fourth place.
Ethan Rose placed third in the men's 10,000 meter run, scoring a new PR with a finishing time of 35:01.87.
Alex Ball scored a new PR in the women's high jump, clearing 1.43 meters and finishing in third place overall.
The Quakers will be back in action next weekend at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for a Friday-night meet.
