Six Quakers earn all-conference tennis honors

CARMEL, Ind. – On Tuesday, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the men's and women's all-conference tennis teams and special awards. The Earlham College Quakers placed a combined six players on the all-conference teams for the 2024-25 year. 

Ivan Wularu was named to the first team all conference after he led the Quakers as the No.1 single since joining the team over winter break. Wularu posted an 11-4 record in singles play, and a 5-1 mark in conference play.

Dreek Saha also placed on the first team for his efforts as a freshman. Saha played as the No.1 single in the fall, and transitioned to No.2 single in the spring. Saha holds a 15-7 record this season, including a 4-2 mark in conference play. 

Working together at No.1 doubles this spring, Wularu and Saha have put together a 10-3 record. 

Vanessa Akuaku was named to the HCAC all-conference first team. The freshman stepped into the No.1 singles role after joining the squad over winter break, and has a 10-5 record with the Quakers this spring. Akuaku has a 5-1 mark in HCAC competition. 

Lawrencia Manu also placed on the first team after joining the Quakers in the spring. Playing at No.2 singles, Manu has an 11-2 record, and a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play. In doubles action, Akuaku and Manu have posted a 9-6 record in the No.1 spot.

Mackenzie Davis earned first-team honors as a freshman after posting a 14-8 record. Davis began the season as the No.1 single in the fall, and transitioned to No.3 in the spring. The freshman has a 6-1 record in HCAC competition. 

Natalee McCann earned an honorable mention nod, posting an 8-11 record in her sophomore season. 

The men's tennis team qualified for its first HCAC Tournament appearance since the program was revived in 2022 this season with a sixth-place finish in the conference standings. The Quakers are scheduled to take on Anderson University at 4:30 pm later this afternoon. The women's team finished in third place in the standings, and will host Franklin College tomorrow at 4:30 pm in the Gene Hambrick Varsity Tennis Center.
