Baseball to host Olivet for Opening Day

RICHMOND – The Earlham College baseball team kicks off its season against The University of Olivet on Opening Weekend in Sadler Stadium. 

THE SCHEDULE

The Quakers open play with a four-game set against Olivet this weekend. Earlham then hosts Asbury University for a Tuesday-night matchup before welcoming Ohio Wesleyan for three games on February 28th-March 1st. The Quakers will spend Spring Break at Fort Pierce, Florida playing five games in five days before returning to Sadler Stadium for a single-game against Wabash College on March 17th. Conference play begins with a doubleheader at Rose-Hulman on March 21st, and the Quakers host Hanover College for a twinbill on March 22nd. Earlham plays a three game series at Franklin on March 28-29th, and hosts DePauw for non-conference action on March 31st. The Quakers play a series at Bluffton on April 3-4th for HCAC action on Easter Weekend. Principia College comes to Richmond for a doubleheader on April 7th, and the Quakers host Berea for three games on April 11-12th. Earlham hosts Transylvania for a conference doubleheader on April 18th, and travels to Anderson for a doubleheader on April 19th. Senior Day comes on April 25th in the middle of a three-game series with Manchester in Sadler Stadium. Earlham hosts Capital for the final non-conference game of the season on April 28th before ending the regular season with a doubleheader at Mount St. Joseph on May 1st. 

THE PLAYERS

Last season, Mitchell Roether placed on the second team All-HCAC as a first baseman after leading the Quakers in home runs. In his junior season, Roether posted a .333 batting average and team highs with nine home runs, 12 doubles, 49 RBI and a .616 slugging percentage.  Noah Rosato earned an honorable mention nod after serving as the main designated hitter for the Quakers in 2025. Rosato had a .339 batting average with six homers, 11 doubles, 37 RBI and a .579 slugging. Both Roether and Rosato posted an OPS over 1.02. The HCAC also designated three Players to Watch for the upcoming season. Casey Blevins slotted in as the third starter as a freshman last season, posting a 5-1 record with 52 innings pitched, 42 strikeouts and a 4.15 ERA. Sean Jeffries played 31 games with 30 starts at shortstop last season. As a junior, he posted a .284 batting average with seven doubles, one triple and 21 steals. Jonathan Jimenez played all 38 games in center field with 37 starts. He had a .318 batting average with 12 doubles, four triples, three home runs and 19 steals. 

THE COACHES

Steve Sakosits enters his 16th season leading the Quakers, with 295 career wins. He has the most wins of any head coach in program history, with nine winning seasons, and two HCAC Championships. Brandon Wilson returns for his second season with the Quakers after joining the staff in 2025, with newcomer Josh Slade set to begin his first season with the Quakers this weekend. Brandon Pennington, Kevin McGee, Stephen Johnson and Patrick Flanagan combine for over 30 years as part of the Quaker baseball staff. 

HCAC OUTLOOK

Earlham was picked to finish in seventh place in the HCAC Preseason Poll in a vote of the conference coaches. The Quakers picked up 33 votes from the conference. Additionally, Earlham earned a vote in the first D3Baseball top-25 rankings of the season.
