MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Earlham College track and field team competed in the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge over Spring Break.
After raising the indoor record all season,
Isa Slone etched her name in the outdoor record books with a leap of 5.38 meters to take ninth place overall.
Competing in his first meet of the season,
Andre Moriel finished in sixth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.61.
Prynces Robinson led the Quakers in the triple jump with a ninth-place finish. Robinson put up a mark of 10.42 meters on her fourth attempt of the day.
Anthony Gough opened day two of competition with a 20-second PR in the men's 3,000 meter run. The junior clocked a time of 9:29.67 to place in 17th overall.
Nyah Herbert placed 21st in the women's 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.99 in a field of over 50 competitors.
The men's 4x800 meter relay team of
Peyton Chanley,
Levi Call,
Allanhirschrick Rojas Hernandez, and Gough set a new school record with a time of 9:04.96. The time beats the old school record by 12 seconds.
The women's 4x200 meter relay team of Robinson,
Sofie Kurrasch,
Mallory Rich and Slone broke the school record set last Spring Break with a time of 1:51.00. To finish in 12th place. The men's 4x200 relay team also set a new school record, comprised of
Manny Smith,
Ian MacDonald, Lijah Witaker and Donovan Pruitt.
The Earlham women's 4x100 meter relay team in 12th place overall with a time of 52.78 by Robinson, Kurrasch, Rich and Slone. The men's team of
Robert Griffin-Walker, Witaker, Smith and Pruitt finished in 13th place.
The Quakers continue outdoor competition next weekend at Eastern Kentucky University.
