RICHMOND, Ky. – The Earlham College track and field team took on an all-day affair in the EKU Spring Invitational on Friday.
Connor Smith led the Quaker men in the javelin throw with a mark of 40.93 meters to open his season. Smith finished in fifth place among collegiate competitors.
Alongside him was
Tommy Reddick who took seventh place in the long jump with a leap of 6.29 meters to sit in sixth place in the conference standings.
The men also had a seventh-place finish in the 4x100 meter relay with a team of
Robert Griffin-Walker,
Ian MacDonald,
Lijah Whitaker and Donovan Pruitt.
Pruitt also had a top-20 finish out of 50 competitors in the 200 meter dash, clocking in at 23.45.
On the women's side
Prynces Robinson led the way with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a conference-leading jump of 10.29 meters.
Berkley Shelton and
Sofie Kurrasch also had a breakout meet in the javelin throw. Shelton threw 30.91 meters, earning her a third-place finish among collegiate competitors while Kurrasch earned a fifth-place finish with a throw of 29.89 meters. Shelton and Kurrasch are now sitting in second and third place respectively in the conference standings.
Sammy West broke 12 minutes in the 3,000 meter run with a 30-second PR in the young outdoor season.
The Quakers continue competition next week at Hanover College.
