EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Earlham College men's and women's golf teams took part in the annual Preview at Timbergate hosted by Spalding University.
"The women really competed. Four career-best rounds on a really tough golf course speaks volumes of the direction this program is headed," said Head Coach
Matt Brown. On Saturday in benign conditions, Macky Laughlin (Sr., Richmond, Ind.), and Mary Kaitlyn Bauer (FY, Oklahoma City, Okla.) carded 90 and 93 respectively. Then in windy conditions and a devious course set-up on Sunday sophomores
Brileigh Quillen-Popejoy (Kokomo, Ind.) and
Erin Wright (Muncie, Ind.) brought it home 85 and 89 strokes. All career bests. Quillen-Popejoy finished in 10th spot. Her first career Top Ten, and Laughlin and Wright finished the tournament tied for 12th.
Arthur Del Bourgo (Jr., Metz, France) led the way for the men finishing 24th.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19, Earlham hosts their 5th annual Spring Invitational at the Richmond Elks Country Club. Twelve men's teams and five women's teams are slated to compete. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
