RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Earlham College women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Indiana University Southeast on Sunday, rallying from an early deficit after dropping the doubles point to cap off Senior Day with an impressive team performance.
Earlham dropped the doubles point despite a strong win 6-3 from
Mackenzie Davis and
Ava Marroni at 3 doubles.
The Quakers responded in singles with toughness.
Vanessa Akuaku delivered a three-set win at No. 1 (6-4, 4-6, 11-9) over IU South East's division 1 transfer Libby Banet , while
Lawrencia Manu added a straight-set victory at No. 2 (6-3, 6-2).
Mackenzie Davis 6-0, 6-3 win at no. 3. With freshman
Ava Marroni clinching the match at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-3 win. Several matches came down to the wire, with senior
Natalee McCann and sophomore
Paige Hobbs both dropping tight matches and 4 and 5 singles.
The match also served as a celebration of the program's lone senior,
Natalee McCann, whose leadership and commitment have helped shape the team's trajectory.
