RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham men's tennis delivered another dominant performance on Saturday, earning a clean sweep over Franklin College with a 7-0 victory at home.
The Quakers set the tone early by taking all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. The No. 2 pair of
Dreek Saha and
Juan Diego Pachon Hernandez started with a convincing 6-1 victory. The No. 1 pair of
Ivan Wularu and
Christos Xirokostas followed with a 6-4 win, while
Dev Agrawal and
Zinedine Purbo completed the doubles sweep with a 7-5 win at No. 3 after saving match points.
Earlham carried that momentum into singles, winning four of six matches in straight sets and two matches in tiebreakers. Wularu was sharp at the top spot, earning a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1. Saha added another point at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-2 performance, and senior
Dev Agrawal was solid in a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6.
Pachon Hernandez secured a 6-1, 7-5 victory at No. 3, while Xirokostas battled and came through in a third-set tiebreak at No. 2 6-4 6-7 10-3. Purbo capped the afternoon with a hard-fought win at No. 5, losing the first 4-6, winning the second 6-1 and closing out the match in a third-set tiebreak.
Additionally the freshman duo of
Alonso Rivera and
Franky Herrera played an exhibition doubles match and handled Franklin's Duo of Richard and Schlek, winning 6-4. Sophomore
Pedro Conci Rodrigues picked up another singles win on the year, this time in an exhibition bout defeating Curtis Bennett 6-3.
With the victory Earlham clinched the right to host the quarter final of the conference tournament.
