Earlham Still on Course for HCAC Regular Season Title

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The scenery may have changed, but that didn't matter as the Earlham College women's soccer team picked up its third straight win on Wednesday with a 3-0 victory over the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Thanks to a one-day weather related postponement, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest was played at Freeman Park under the lights instead of on campus because the Earlham men's soccer team had its scheduled match earlier in the day on Matlack Field.

The win over the Engineers (6-12, 3-5) kept the Quakers (12-4-1, 7-1) in a first-place tie in the conference with Transylvania University (13-3-1, 7-1), which beat the College of Mount St. Joseph 3-0 on Wednesday.

It was also the Quakers 12th victory, which tied the Earlham record for wins in a season. This is the fourth consecutive year the Quakers have reached that mark.

Lauren Berry (Durham, NC, Carolina Friends) gave the Quakers a 1-0 lead on Wednesday with an unassisted goal at 20:50 as she scored for the second time this fall.

Karman Duchon (Decatur, GA, Decatur) made it 2-0 when she scored off a rebound at 36:18. Duchon hit the post on a shot and was able to gain control for another shot that found the back of the net for her 15th goal of the season. As Earlham's all-time leading scorer, Duchon now has 52 goals and 33 assists for 137 points.

In the second period, Holland Rausher (Durham, NC, Carolina Friends) scored for the first time in her career at 66:06 with Joy Doucette (Berwyn Heights, MD, Eleanor Roosevelt) picking up her team-high 9th assist of the season.

"It was great to see Lauren Berry and Holland Rausher be a part of the offense and score goals tonight," Earlham Head Coach Jocelyn Keller said.

Earlham led 19-7 in shots and 8-1 in corner kicks as goalkeeper Megan Holthaus (Harrison, OH, McAuley) recorded five saves for the Quakers.

The Quakers play at DePauw University on Friday. The non-conference match begins at 7:30 p.m.

Transylvania ends its regular season on Saturday at Anderson University, while the Quakers finish their HCAC slate on Sunday on the road against Franklin College at 1 p.m.
