RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's tennis team hosts Miami University Middletown in its season opener this Friday. The first ball will be struck at 4:00 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Miami University Middletown. The Quakers are looking to open up their season with a win following a winless campaign in 2016. The ThunderHawks opened their 2017 season with a pair of losses against Indiana University East and Mt. Saint Joseph University.
The Coaches: Shawn Hyden is in his second season as head women's tennis coach at Earlham. In his first season with the program, Hyden led the men's team to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament finals for the first time since the 2014-2015 season. Canee Uribe has been the men's tennis coach at Miami University Middletown for the last 15 seasons.
The Players: The Quakers return senior Arrita Domi who was named Honorable Mention All-HCAC last year as well as six other players who saw action in the starting lineup in the 2017 season. They are joined by freshmen Alex Canaday and Kathryn Hulleman and juniors Yunjoo Shin and Zijia Liu.
Recent History: This is the first time in recent history that these teams have met.
