Box Score BLUFFTON, Ohio - An overtime Goal causes Earlham men's soccer to leave Bluffton disappointed
Earlham struck first in the 12th minute after and assist by Garrent Shaw gave Yuki Adams the opportunity to shoot from 25 yards out and land the ball just inside the right goal post making the Bluffton goalkeeper miss. Throughout the half the Quakers moved the ball extremely well and the offense was in sync. Earlham's defense only allowed the Beavers 2 shots, with only one being on the goal. A tackle inside the 18-box that was a little too rough for the refs proved fatal for the Quakers. Bluffton's Dalton Taynor took the penalty shot and made it, tying the match 1-1. Despite Earlham's offensive persistence both teams would go into the half tied.
Bluffton came out of the half playing with a different level of intensity, causing the defense to work harder. Earlham lost control the control they had in the first half, but each side of the ball held their own not allowing either team to score leading them into overtime.
Two minutes into overtime Bluffton's Bishop Williamston scored a goal to end the game.
Through the game Earlham took five more shots than Bluffton, but the Beavers had five more saves than the Quakers. Earlham was also charged with five more fouls than Bluffton.
Men's soccer is now 1-3 in HCAC play, and will be on the road to Rose-Hulman for a kickoff at 3:30pm on Saturday, October 13
