WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Earlham College cross country teams competed at the JennaStrong Fall Classic at Wilmington College on Friday afternoon.
The men's team finished in fifth place in the 8k event out of 33 teams that scored. The women's team took home a 20th-place finish out of 35 entered teams in the 5k.
Connor Del Carmen led the way for the Quakers after finishing in sixth place in his 8k race. The freshman ran a time of 26:08.1 and was keeping pace with eventual race winner Simen Hayes through the first loop. Del Carmen was also the highest-placed representative from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in the event.
Shianna Bellingham led the women's team after scoring a 55th-place finish. The junior ran a time of 21:03.1 in the women's race and finished fifth out of HCAC competitors.
Henry Foultner and
Austin Burt also recorded notable finishes in 27th and 34th place respectively. Foultner clocked in with a time of 26:52.4 and Burt crossed the line at 27:02.2.
The Quakers will be back on course in two weeks at the HCAC Championship meet on October 30. Anderson University will be hosting the meet at Blue River Park.
