RICHMOND - For the first time in over 30 years, Earlham College softball will take the field for the 2024 season. After a multi-year project to return to action, the Quakers will begin their season on March 2 against The University of Olivet on the new Ellie Bewley Softball Stadium.
THE SCHEDULE
38-games are scheduled for the 2024 Earlham softball season, 16-games will take place at the Ellie Bewley Softball Stadium. Starting on their home turf with a doubleheader against University of Olivet and then going away to play in Florida against eight different teams for their spring break tournament, Mar. 11-15. After spring break the Quakers are back at home with a doubleheader against Centre College on March 20 and then have another doubleheader against Wittenberg University that following Saturday, March 23. The Quakers then have their first away game since Florida against Wilmington College March 27. Earlham softball starts their conference play with a doubleheader against Bluffton, March 30. In conference play the Quakers play two non-conference doubleheaders against Kenyon on April 4 and Denison on April 23. Continuing conference play Earlham has their first conference home game with a doubleheader against Transylvania University, April 6. Following on April 9, the Quakers have another home doubleheader against Rose-Hulman and then play a doubleheader away at Hanover, April 13. Quakers will continue away with a doubleheader at Defiance College April 15 and Franklin College April 20. Quakers return home to finish off their season with doubleheaders against Manchester on April 27, Mount St. Joseph on May 2, and Anderson University on May 4.
THE PLAYERS
The Heartland Conference has selected four Quakers as "Athletes to Watch" ahead of the 2024 season.
Morgan Cooksey, a freshman pitcher from Williamsport, Indiana.
Bo Shelton a freshman mid-infielder from Pendleton, Indiana.
Bella Schatko a freshman mid-infielder from Noblesville, Indiana. And,
Emmerie Stump a freshman first baseman/outfielder from Indianapolis, Indiana.
THE COACHES
Hired in 2022,
Stacey Goyette will finally get to lead the Quakers in her first season as head softball coach. Goyette has a wide range of experience as a player and coach. As a player at Butler University she led the team in offense in 1992 and 1993 with BA's of .311 and .381 respectively. Goyette is ranked 8th in Butler's all-time single season batting average leaders and earned 8th in career doubles with 38. As a pitcher, Goyette is 9th in all-time single season ERA at 1.56 and ranked 6th with a career ERA of 1.82 in 376 innings pitched. Goyette in her time playing Division I softball earned second-team All-MCC in 1992 and first team All-MCC in 1993. After college, Goyette spent years coaching high school and travel ball softball. In 2016, Goyette eventually returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach and main pitching coach. In her 6 year stint as assistant coach, Butler University softball made the BIG EAST conference tournament 3 times and in 2022, she steered Alyssa Graves to BIG EAST pitcher-of-the-year.

Maddie Moore and graduate assistant
Faith Muterspaugh. Moore previously played for Goyette at Butler University. In her 5 years as shortstop for the Bulldogs, Moore had a career fielding percentage of .942 and BA of .253. In 2019 Moore earned 2nd-Team All BIG EAST. Graduate assistant, Muterspaugh, played 4 years at Anderson University as a utility player and hit .280 her senior year.
