CARMEL, Ind. – On Monday, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the winners of the weekly Athlete of the Week Awards. 

For the second time in her young career, Morgan Cooksey has been honored as Pitcher of the Week by the conference. 

Cooksey made four starts for the Quakers at THE Spring Games in Leesburg, Fla. with three complete outings. She accounted for 25.1 innings and allowed just eight earned runs for a 2.21 ERA. The freshman tallied 31 strikeouts on the week with just five walks, she also earned one winning decision in the tournament. 

Offensively, Cooksey had a .222 batting average with two hits and two RBI. 

On the season, Cooksey leads the Quaker rotation with 46 strikeouts and a 1.73 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched. 

The Quakers went 1-7 in Florida with three one-run losses.

EC will be in action again on Wednesday against Centre College in Ellie Bewley Stadium. First pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 pm.
