RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's soccer team scored a decisive 2-0 victory over Muskingum University on Wednesday afternoon in Matlack-Messer Stadium.
Isa Slone scored the first goal of the contest in the 33rd minute of play. Slone beat her defender, and got free on the right side of the Muskie penalty area. She then unloaded a right-footed shot to the far post for a 1-0 lead.
Mallory Smith delivered the final goal in the 76th minute with a header off of a corner kick by Slone.
In goal,
Makayla Hurey collected two saves, and earned the 12th shutout of her career, good for a new program record. Hurey sits alone atop the women's soccer record book, and has 10 games remaining this season to increase her total.
The Quakers outshot the Muskies 13-6, and placed eight total shots on frame. Smith led the attack with six total shots.
The Quakers have an off weekend before hosting Albion College next Wednesday in Matlack-Messer. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 pm.
