RICHMOND, Ind. — One more win to go.
The Earlham College women's soccer team stayed in first place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday as the Quakers beat Manchester University 3-0 on Matlack Field during Homecoming Weekend.
The Quakers are now 10-4-1 and 6-0-1 in the conference heading into Wednesday's HCAC match at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. A victory would give the Quakers their third straight regular season HCAC title.
"It was another good result for us," Earlham Head Coach Shane Meridith said. "We were not crisp early, but we worked through it to play well and score a couple of great goals."
On Saturday, the Quakers got started early against the Spartans (7-6-3, 3-3-1) with a goal from
Ryder Comstock (Yellow Springs, OH, Yellow Springs) at the 3:32. Comstock leads the conference with 10 goals this season.
Ikumi Doucette (Berwyn Heights, MD, Eleanor Roosevelt) added to the advantage in the first half with a score at 18:09 as the Quakers led 2-0 at intermission.
In the second half, Ikumi Doucette picked up the final goal of the contest at 57:46.
Joy Doucette (Berwyn Heights, MD, Eleanor Roosevelt), who leads the HCAC in assists, had three on Saturday to give her 10 for the fall. This season, she has nine goals and 10 assists for a conference-high 28 points. In her career, she has 36 goals and 33 assists for 105 points. The 33 career assists ties her with Karman Duchon (2007-10) on Earlham's all-time list in that category.
