Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — They won't have to share this title.

With a 4-0 victory Saturday over the College of Mount St. Joseph on Matlack Field, the Earlham College women's soccer team earned the outright Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship.

"They were all champions today playing with great spirit," Earlham Head Coach Shane Meridith said of his team that had shared the HCAC regular season championship the last two years. "We are going to enjoy this win today and then start on Sunday getting prepared for what has eluded them."

What has eluded the Quakers (11-5-1, 7-1-1) over the last two seasons is a HCAC Tourney Championship. As the top seed, Earlham entertains No. 4 Manchester University (9-6-3, 5-3-1) on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Quakers won 3-0 in the regular season contest in Richmond on Oct. 20.

In the other tourney contest, No. 3 Hanover College (13-4-1, 6-2-1) is at No. 2 Transylvania University (11-5-1, 7-2) on Tuesday night. The winners meet at the highest remaining seed for the HCAC Tournament title on Saturday.

The Quakers got started early on Saturday with Ikumi Doucette (Berwyn Heights, MD) scoring at the 5:57 mark with an assist from her twin sister Joy Doucette (Berwyn Heights, MD). It was the first of three goals for Ikumi  Doucette on the day, which gives her a team-high 11 on the season. Karman Duchon was the last Earlham player to score three times in a match in a 6-0 win at Oberlin College on Sept. 25, 2010.

Joy  Doucette's assist was the 34th of her career and puts her on top of Earlham's all-time list in that category ahead of Duchon, who had 33 from 2007-10.

Just before the end of the first half at 43:06, Ikumi  Doucette scored her second goal with an assist from Betty Alemu. The Quakers led 2-0 at the intermission.

In the second period, Joy  Doucette added an unassisted goal at 46:25 to give the Quakers a 3-0 advantage. It was her 10th goal of the season and with her 11 assists, she leads the HCAC in points with 31.

Ikumi  Doucette picked up the last tally of the match at 69:23 with an assist from Ryder Comstock (Yellow Springs, OH).

The Quakers led 17-4 in shots and 9-1 in corner kicks. Earlham goalkeeper Ashley (A.J.) Johnson (Columbus, OH) had three saves for the Quakers.

The Doucettes, Comstock, Cate Simmermaker (Louisville, KY) and Paige Thomas (Bel Air, MD), were all honored for their contributions to the women's soccer program on Senior Day.

"It was a fitting day for our seniors," Meridith said. "They have been so good in HCAC play over their careers."

Earlham is 23-3-1 in HCAC regular season contests in the last three years since joining the league.
