RICHMOND, IND - The Earlham College women's soccer team left the field stunned on Saturday as Manchester University scored a goal with a second to play to defeat the Quakers 2-1 on senior day.
The game started with commemoration of the Earlham women's soccer class of 2016. The first half came along with no goals from either side. As the game rolled into the second half, Manchester's Courtney Hersick scored the first goal 53 minutes in.
Trailing 1-0, Earlham battled back to tie the game seven minutes later as senior Micaela Bush found junior Emma Hoffman for her first goal of the season.
The game appeared headed for overtime, but Hersick got the ball at the top of the box and fired a shot over the head of Earlham goalkeeper Sari Stissi with a second to play giving Manchester the victory.
