RICHMOND, Ind. – Senior Micaela Bush netted her first goal of the season, but the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) scored two second-half goals en route to a 3-1 victory over the Earlham College women's soccer team on a rain-filled Saturday afternoon.
OWU's Hannah Joseph scored the first goal of the game as she broke through the Quaker defense in the 18th minute. Bush, who scored three goals last season, fired a shot past Mackenzie Brunke to even the score at the 24:22 mark of the first half.
OWU took eight shots in the first half compared to three for Earlham. The Battling Bishops opened the second half with two goals in six and a half minutes to seal the win.
Earlham took five shots in the game while Ohio Wesleyan fired 18 shots. Bush and senior Cherrah Barclay each had two shots to lead the Quakers' individually. Freshman goalkeeper Sari Stissi took the loss, but made nine saves in the game.
The Quakers return to action with an away game at Marietta College on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
