Charles Ivey gained attention statewide for his achievements in both track and football. During his four-year track career, Ivey won 10 ICAL Championships and seven Big State Championships. While at the ICAL Championships, Ivey placed third in the high hurdles and set the ICAL record in that event in 1922. Not only did he hold the record for the high jump and currently holds the record in the 110 high hurdles of 15.04 seconds (1922), but he also had the most total points over a four-year span. Along with his recognition in track, Ivey also excelled during his four-years in football, being named to the All-State Honorable Mention Team in 1920 and 1921.
