Shannan Rieder is one of the most decorated athletes in Earlham College history.

Rieder was a 10-time North Coast Athletic Conference champion in track and cross country and still holds multiple school records.

Track was the sport that Rieder excelled in the most as she became the only person in the history of the NCAC to win the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs three straight years. Overall, she won eight NCAC titles in track and was a national qualifier in the 10,000-meter run in 2000.

Rieder was undefeated in her senior cross country regular season, including the 2000 NCAC individual title.  The HDSR major won the George Van Dyke Award as Earlham's most outstanding senior athlete and was a Kathryn Weber Scholar-Athlete.

Rieder, who lives in Cincinnati, still competes in road races and has won several marathons including the Sunburst Marathon in 2007 and the Chicago Lakeshore Marathon in 2004.
