Earlham College

At Earlham in the mid-1920s, Kenneth Farris was an outstanding all-around athlete. Because of his ability to run, pass and kick, he was known as a “triple threat” back for the Earlham football teams. Farris earned three varsity letters and received a 1926 All-State honorable mention at left halfback. A president of the E Club, he was a three-year member of the EE athletic organization. In his first year at Earlham, he played freshmen football and basketball as well as started as shortstop on the varsity baseball team. Farris would continue his athletic career as a minor league baseball player in the Boston Braves farm system, as a player on semi-professional football and basketball teams, and as a golf professional at five different courses. For 40 years, he worked as a high school and college football official. Ferris served with the Red Cross during World War II in the Pacific.
