Earlham College

Honored as the most outstanding senior female scholar-athlete at Earlham College, Martha Boren Brumfield was named her graduating class’ “Girl of the Year.” She served as captain of the basketball team and participated in field hockey and archery. Brumfield has demonstrated a life-long commitment to education through her service and support. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Earlham, she taught English and Latin at three high schools for 11 years. Later, Brumfield served on the Princeton (IN) Board of Education and the Vincennes University Board of Trustees. Martha and her husband Richard established an endowed scholarship and contributed the funding for a classroom in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
