Hall of Fame
Thomas E. Smith has been inducted into the Hall of Fame for outstanding achievement with the Earlham men’s soccer program.
In 1963, Thomas was the goalie for the Quakers when they were crowned co-national champions of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The team posted a 9-1-1 overall record that year.
That same year, Thomas was an NAIA All-National Tournament Team selection making 21 saves and notching an assist on the game-winning goal in the national semifinal game.
During the 1963 season, Thomas charted six shutouts, including wins over Purdue University and the University of Dayton, and posted a 0.80 goals against average. He recorded 12 saves in a 2-2 tie vs. Indiana University.
In 1964, Thomas was team captain and MVP.
