Earlham College

The EC Girl of the Year Award was established in 1926, and the tradition of this honor continued for nearly half of a century. In its origin, the EC Club offered a cup in honor of Earlham’s most outstanding senior female scholar-athlete. It is stated in the 1935 Sargasso that an EC Girl is selected “from the standpoint of scholarship, Earlham spirit and all-round participation in outside activities.” In 1975, the Kathryn Weber Senior Scholar Athlete Award was established for any senior female athlete with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher who significantly contributed to the athletic program. The EC Girl of the Year was discontinued with the establishment of this award.
