Hall of Fame
Randal (Randy) Sadler has been inducted into the hall of fame for outstanding success in baseball.
Randy was a celebrated pitcher on some of the Quakers’ best baseball teams of his era. During the 1971 season, he posted a 1.56 ERA, which is still fifth best in program history. That same year, the Quakers beat Georgia Tech in game one of a doubleheader and finished the season with a record of 24-12-1, which was the program’s second-best finish until 2015.
During the 1972 season, Randy led the team in innings pitched.
Randy and his wife, Melissa, are also among Earlham Athletics most ardent and generous advocates. The couple’s latest gift is supporting construction of a new softball stadium on south campus in advance of the program’s inaugural year in spring 2024.In 2021, the couple’s generosity was a catalyst for reestablishing men’s and women’s golf and tennis programs as a varsity sport.
In 2012, the couple made a major gift in support of a new baseball facility on south campus. Randal R. Sadler Stadium was built during the summer of 2013 and hosted the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament in 2017.
