A four-year letterman in football and track, Thomas M. Roser excelled as a linebacker, offensive end and kicker during the golden era of Quaker football. Earlham captured 21 consecutive victories from 1961-63, including the undefeated season of 1962. In 1963, the Quakers were ranked 13th in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and Roser earned all-district honors on offense and defense. In track, he specialized in the discus throw and established a school record of 137'10 1/2". Roser served the United States in the Air Force for 21 years. Assigned to posts in five different states and four foreign countries, he earned promotions from second lieutenant to lieutenant colonel. Roser worked for Martin Marietta from 1995 until his retirement in 1999.
