As the first basketball player in Earlham history to score 2000 career points, the four-year letterman David Gray was the College’s all-time career leader in 10 statistical categories, including scoring with 2,323 points and rebounds with 1,375 caroms. He averaged 20 points and 11.9 rebounds in 116 collegiate contests. Gray was the Hoosier-Buckeye Collegiate Conference Player of the Year for the 1971-72 and 1972-73 seasons. In each of his four years at Earlham, the Quakers participated in the NAIA playoffs with the 1970-71 team advancing to the national tournament and finishing the season ranked twelfth in the country. As a senior, the team captain was named to the 1973 NAIA All-American Third team. At the time of induction, Gray was a professional educator in the Franklin Monroe Local School District of Pitsburg, Ohio.
